Flavor overview [edit]
Open up auditions were held in late 2017, within Orlando, Cincinnati, Savannah, Milwaukee, Houston, Las Vegas, New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles,[three] with producers also accepting online auditions.[4] As with the previous year, the judges' auditions were held and filmed in March at the Pasadena Borough Auditorium in Los Angeles.[5] The Judge Cuts phase of the competition saw the involvement of actor and comedian Ken Jeong, actress Olivia Munn, singer Martina McBride, and comedian Chris Hardwick.[2] There were no major changes fabricated to the program in any aspects, but Simon Cowell was given allowances to halt the performances of two participants - both singers - during the Judge Cuts and asking them to do a unlike song, later he disliked each singer's original option.
Of the participants who auditioned for this season, 36 secured a place in the live quarter-finals, with twelve quarter-finalists in each ane - amongst these included: acrobatic Zurcaroh, vocalizer Michael Ketterer, singer Courtney Hadwin, singer Amanda Mena, vocalist Makayla Phillips,[2] who had each received a golden buzzer from the main judges and host; choir Voices of Promise, choir Affections City Chorale, ballroom dancers Quin and Misha, rapper Flau'jae,[2] who had each received a golden buzzer from the invitee judges; and opera singer Daniel Pismire, novelty water-spitting deed Human Fountains, multimedia performance group Front Pictures, who were chosen equally WildCard quarter-finalists.
